D’Alberto and Bargwanna a dynamic duo

Rod Nash Racing is on target for a superb round of racing at Phillip Island this weekend. Driver Tony D’Alberto is anxious to get back behind the wheel and continue on with the V8 Supercar series following a successful outing at Winton in August.

D’Alberto will be joined by co-driver Jason Bargwanna for the Phillip Island round. Bargwanna is well versed in the challenges faced by an endurance race with a Bathurst win in 2000 to his credit. Bargwanna and D’Alberto are the same height, making car set-up for the two drivers that much easier.

The team will be faced with an unusual race format this weekend with two 14 lap races on Saturday to be followed by a 113 lap monster on Sunday. The #55 Bottle-O Commodore is predicted to stand up well to the rigours of the weekend, building upon the stamina exhibited at earlier rounds to give drivers the best shot at getting a hold on the front of the field. In earlier rounds the car has proven to have the pace necessary to make headway against an aggressive field. D’Alberto and Bargwanna will be able to utilise that strength on race day to support a move forward.

D’Alberto looks set to make a smooth transition from sprint races to the longer endurance format.

“I really enjoy the challenge of the endurance races.” D’Alberto said, “It's such a long day and anything can and will happen. I really think this year we have a great opportunity to perform well -We definitely have a chance for a top 5 in both races!”

Both drivers will have the opportunity to find their footing at Phillip Island this Friday, with a number of practice sessions starting from 12:45pm. Friday’s practice will be followed by qualifying on Saturday.
