14/03/08 - D’Alberto up to the challenge at Grand Prix

It’s lights, camera, action as Rod Nash Racing settles in for a busy round of racing at the Australian Grand Prix. Qualifying was conducted yesterday with driver Tony D’Alberto taking the challenge in stride to qualify in 22nd in a time of 2:00.0081. D’Alberto clocked a solid 10 laps in the qualifying session, recording his fastest on lap 6.

With Eastern Creek only just behind them, the crew made speedy repairs to return the car to form after the bruising round last week. Fortune was in the team’s favour with only damage to the steering arm requiring attention. The #55 Bottle-o Commodore proved it had the pace in practice and qualifying and is now ready to battle it out with the rest of the field amidst the electric atmosphere of the Grand Prix.

D’Alberto will contest three races over the course of the Grand Prix round with the first race kicking off at 3:55pm this afternoon. Races this afternoon and Saturday offer 15 laps each whilst Sunday’s race will stretch through to 19 laps. Drivers will need to exercise extreme caution to avoid coming to grief on the challenging circuit, whilst also making the most of the short races. Every passing opportunity will count, adding to the excitement of the event.
