20/02/2008 - Tony D’Alberto faces Clipsal prepared

A hive of activity has surrounded Rod Nash Racing with preparations underway for the first round of the 2008 V8 Supercar season.  The team’s new driver Tony D’Alberto is quietly confident about his transition from the development series to the main game, and is ready to get behind the wheel at Clipsal and put his skills to the ultimate challenge.

Tony finished last season on a high, securing his place as 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series Champion.  It’s been a quick rise through the ranks for Tony, with a trail of success following his journey around the major racing circuits of Australia. The up and coming racing star has shown no shortage of skill and Tony’s hard work has elevated him to the next stage of his racing career.

A recent test day gave Tony the opportunity to notch up some laps and put the car through its paces.

“The Walkinshaw group have produced a very competitive package -both chassis and motors.” Tony said. “I was impressed with the car during the test day. It’s handled very well and I felt comfortable in the car relatively quickly.”

Along with the change in driver, Rod Nash Racing is also sporting a new-look for the season with the #55 Commodore decked out in flashy “Bottle-o” green.  The bright new appearance gives the car a fierce presence that won’t be lost amongst the rest of the field. The new-look has been given Tony’s nod of approval.

“The colour scheme has come up great. I have had lots of compliments on the appearance. It will definitely stand out from all of the other cars,” Tony said.

Round 1 of the 2008 V8 Supercar series gets underway this Friday with a practice session scheduled for 9:45am and qualifying set to follow in the afternoon.  Clipsal offers two races across the weekend, each consisting of 78 laps.
