The Bottle-O Racing Team drivers Paul Dumbrell and Dean Canto are putting the final touches on their preparation for the first endurance race of the year in September. The driver pairing combines a wealth of experience to produce an extremely competitive partnership that hopes to reach the podium on race day.
Canto has been busy familiarising himself with the finer details of the #55 Bottle-O Falcon and is feeling confident about the Phillip Island endurance event.
“I’ve had plenty of time behind the wheel with 100 laps at the test day, which was followed by a sponsor ride day.” Canto said. “We also have another test day before the Phillip Island round which will boost my confidence further.
“During testing P.D and I have both had the same comments in regards to car setup. It’s great that we have a similar driving style, which makes for a strong endurance combination.
“Another bonus to our partnership is that P.D and I don’t require a seat insert on driver changes which can make a huge difference in a pit stop.
“Also the team has prepared the car perfectly! There are always lot of variables once you hit the track that can’t be prepared for, but if we have a clean run I don’t have any worries about the car or team going the distance with a top 5 result.”
Dumbrell is equally enthusiastic about the team’s plan for success.
“Dean and I drove together over 12 years ago at Bathurst, so we know each other’s racing style,” Dumbrell said. “Dean’s experience with the team also enables us to work very well together, particularly with the help of our engineers David and Ben, whose work has been critical in building such a strong team this year.
“Without a doubt, the car won’t have any issues tackling the endurance races. FPR has been extremely consistent and reliable so we only need to work on our outright speed!”
The Phillip Island round begins from 10th September with the monster 500km endurance race commencing from 1pm on Sunday the 12th September.
