Dumbrell ready to rumble at Townsville street circuit Print

Excitement is brewing in the Bottle-O Racing Team as the hours count down to the next Championship round at Townsville.

The Townsville event returns to the Championship calendar after a successful launch last year attended by a hoard of passionate Motorsport fans.  The crowd were treated to a spectacular event in 2009 where the specially designed circuit hosted a thrilling line-up of V8 action.

The Townsville circuit is 2.87km of challenging street circuit, matching fast straights with tight corners.  Drivers must respect the circuit’s design and stay focussed at all times to avoid tangling with danger and to keep a step ahead of rivals.

Dumbrell found success at last year’s Townsville event, finishing the Saturday race in 11th and Sunday’s race in 8th.  A year later and Dumbrell has the powerful Bottle-O Falcon to stack the odds in his favour for an even better result.

"It's a very challenging circuit from a driver's perspective." Dumbrell said. "With a mix of purpose built and street elements in this track it requires a compromise with car set-up to achieve the best outcome.

"Certainly the use of the curbs is tough on cars. To achieve a quick time around the circuit you really need to monster each corner, and this puts a lot of stress throughout the car."

This year’s Townsville event follows a tried and tested formula, with practice sessions scheduled through Friday, followed by 72 lap races on Saturday and Sunday.
