Rod Nash Racing has kicked off the 2010 V8 Supercar season with a strong finish in 7th at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
Qualifying gave Dumbrell the opportunity to turn the promise shown in practice into a solid starting position. Dumbrell didn’t disappoint, qualifying in 11th position, which was later adjusted to 10th. Dumbrell made Race 1 look easy, cruising through to 8th position on the opening lap. By lap 4 he had a confident grip on 7th position and was well placed for the shuffle brought about by pit-stops.
The team chose to pit the #55 Bottle-O Falcon on lap 15, making a lightning-fast stop and rejoining the field within the top ten. Dumbrell upped the pace, clocking his fastest lap of the race on lap 18 in a time of 2:00.0480.
Dumbrell kept up the acceleration before performing his second pit stop on lap 27. He was quick to make up ground, reclaiming 7th position by lap 32. Dumbrell was able to make a further gain to hold 6th position for 3 laps, before settling back into 7th for the race finish.
Dumbrell was successful in delivering a clean race, overcoming the challenge of a new car and a new circuit to secure a solid result. The team are looking forward to the next race.
